The Friends of the Sir John Barrow Monument are very pleased to announce the sale of the following items to commemorate the Monument’s restoration programme.  They have been designed and produced at no cost to the Friends with all net proceeds going to the restoration fund.  The Friends hope their supporters will derive much pleasure from them and are advised to order soon to avoid disappointment.

  • 2009 Monument Calendars:     These A4 sized coloured calendars comprise a series of 12 imaginative and funny cartoons based around the Sir John Barrow Monument on Hoad Hill.  They were designed by Reg Blyth, an ex-pat Ulverstonian and enthusiastic fund raiser for the Monument.  

They are available at £5.99 from the following outlets in Ulverston:

  • Pewter Miniatures:        Sorry, but sold out!    A limited edition of 100 pewter miniatures of the Sir John Barrow Monument are offered for sale at £12 each, available from the following outlets:
    • North West Evening Mail Office, Ulverston (#)
    • Made in Cumbria shop - "Cumbria Way", Brogden St., Ulverston
    • Tourist Information Centre, Ulverston (#)

The miniatures weigh 320 grams (11ozs) each and stand 10cm high (just under 4 inches).  They were designed and individually cast with great attention to detail by Stuart Alexander a long-standing member of the Friends committee.  Each of the 100 miniatures is inscribed on its base with its unique identification number.

(#)  A small number of Stuart’s attractive “candle miniatures” is also available from the above outlets at a price of £2 each.
