150th
Year Celebrations of the building of the Monument took place on Sunday 14th May
2000, basking in glorious early summer sunshine. Organised by Welfare State International, the magnificent celebrations
included Barrow's Boys abseiling from the top of the monument, bands, re-constructions
of the life of Sir John Barrow, street theatre and fireworks.
