150th Year Celebrations of the building of the Monument took place on Sunday 14th May 2000, basking in glorious early summer sunshine. Organised by Welfare State International, the magnificent celebrations included Barrow's Boys abseiling from the top of the monument, bands, re-constructions of the life of Sir John Barrow, street theatre and fireworks.  The following is a selection of photos to provide a reminder of the day's celebrations.
